The Chiricahua and Peloncillo Mountains

The Chiricahua and Peloncillo mountains are a trail riding, hiking and birding paradise and they are just minutes from Caballos de las Estrellas. 


The Chiricahua Mountains:

  • Are 40 miles long, 20 miles wide, 425 sq. miles and over 289,000 acres in size.
  • The highest peak is 9,797 ft. above sea level
  • Includes National Forest, 87,700 acres of Wilderness, and a National Monument 
  • ​Over 200 miles of trails


Traveling through the Chiricahua Mountains you will experience 5 of the life zones found in the U.S. as you climb from the high desert, through the Sycamore trees of the canyon lands, to lupine meadows and evergreen covered peaks.


Caballos de las Estrellas is located east of the Chiricahua mountains and west of the of the Peloncillo Mountains.




The Peloncillo Mountains:


  • Are 35 miles long with the highest peak being 6928 ft. above seal level
  • ​Are known for their Desert Big Horn Sheep.
  • Over 100 miles of trails.
